What is the purpose of this?
Why would we skip collision between party members?
I don't see when it would be necessary.
The purpose is mostly a quality of life improvement for party gameplay.
There are situations where party members can unintentionally block each other, especially in dungeons, or when multiple players are standing on the same target. Disabling collision only between members of the same party makes movement smoother, without affecting collision with
monsters,
NPCs,
metin stones, walls, or other players outside the party.
It is especially useful in pvm parties, where players cooperate and should not get in each other's way. For example, a shaman can get stuck behind a warrior, or party members can block each other while trying to reposition during a
boss fight.
It is not something mandatory for every server. It is just a comfort option, similar to disabling collisions in safe zones or with certain entities. If a server wants classic body-blocking between party members, it can simply not use the feature.
