Incearca sa il pornesti acum, daca nu reinstaleaza mariadb, ai tutorial si in link si gasesti si pe metin2dev. Poti instala mysql56 daca nu reusesti cu mariadb,

Primesc aceasi eroare cand ii dau start....am reinstalat de 2 chiar si versiuni diferite si aceasi eroare primesc ....mysql56.57 nu mai este exista pe freebsd 13+

In functie de varianta folosita 64 sau i386 urci unul din folderele din arhiva in USR.

Apoi folositi comanda:

pkg add /usr/pkg_backup_64/mysql56-server-5.6.51.pkg - pentru amd64

pkg add /usr/pkg_backup_32/mysql56-server-5.6.51.pkg - pentru i386

Apoi pkg install mysql56 si de aici te descurci

Aceasi eroare si cu mysql56 ...... chiar nu imi dau seama de la ce sa fie si problema asta este doar la acest serverfille pentru ca am testat altul cu mysql 5.6 si merge perfect pornit , poti sa imi lasi mysql tau aici care il folosesti ?
si spunemi ce versiune de freebsd folosesti . Eu am freebsd 13.2 64

12.3 13.2 e irelevant, problema nu e de la mysql in sine. Mai era un baiat aici la probleme si intrebari care l-a pornit.

Also, remember that localhost and 127.0.0.1 are not the same thing in this context:

If host is set to localhost, then a socket or pipe is used.
If host is set to 127.0.0.1, then the client is forced to use TCP/IP.
To check if you can connect to your database via sockets, use mysql -h localhost.

depends on whether you want to keep mysql or maria:
if you want to keep mysql
then you have to remove every trace and reinstall the client and server packages.

pkg remove mysql56-server
pkg remove mysql56-client

in filezilla/winscp:
/etc/rc.conf open and delete mysql enable

open putty:

cd /var/db
rm -rf mysql
cd /usr/local/etc
rm -rf mysql
rm -rf rc.d

reboot

now installa again mysql56-client and server from pkg
pkg add --force path/to/mysql56-client.pkg
pkg add --force path/to/mysql56-client.pkg

once installed do:
service mysql-server start
and when started do
mysql_secure_installation and proceed.

after:
echo 'mysql_enable="YES"' >> /etc/rc.conf

once done this in the var/db/mysql folder you will have to insert only the folders that are not already present (so account, common, player, log etc) without overwriting any folder or importing any other file.

you will then also have to give write permissions to these.
you will also need to create the mysql account contained in the CONFIG and give it privileges

mysqladmin -uroot -p password
Enter password: <dont write this here.>
New password: <write new pw.>
Confirm new password: <write new pw.>

----------------
CREATE USER 'root'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'root'@'%' WITH GRANT OPTION;
flush privileges;

Try reinstall your freebsd then install clean mysql
