Hello,
We would like to introduce Eteria, a Metin2 project currently in active development, built with a clear long-term direction, a structured and involved team, and a series of fundamental changes designed to improve stability, fluidity, and overall gameplay coherence, without losing the classic essence of the game.
Eteria is not a “rushed” server. The project has been in development for a significant period of time, and the launch is planned for the first part of 2026, giving us the necessary space to deliver a solid, stable, and fair experience from day one.
The exact launch date will be officially announced once all elements meet the standards we have set.

What is Eteria?
A classic-first server that preserves the original Metin2 spirit, while modernizing it where it truly matters:
- Clearer and more balanced gameplay
- Healthy progression, designed end-to-end from level 1 to 105
- Real performance improvements
- Smoother and more accurate movement (improved client–server sync)
- Focus on fair-play and longevity, without shortcuts that harm gameplay
- Modern quality-of-life features that help you, without removing the sense of progression
- Progression systems integrated logically (not “thrown in”), meaningful for economy and market
- Cleaner, more user-friendly interfaces (less inventory chaos, more control)
- Constant communication through Dev Talks and previews, with clear information at the right time
- A central website hub to stay up to date with everything
- Everything is built around one core idea: the player’s time must matter.
Seasons – the backbone of the server
Eteria operates on a seasonal system, designed as a structured framework for progression, economy, and updates — not just as “resets”.
- Each season lasts 3–4 months
- Content is introduced gradually and in a controlled way, allowing room for adjustments
- Every season has a clear goal: stability, direction, and healthy evolution, not sheer quantity
- During each season, depending on what happens on the server, we may introduce:
- New content (zones, dungeons, systems, objectives, etc.)
- System improvements and QoL updates
- Balance changes, refinements, and optimizations
- Economy and progression adjustments where needed
Important: not every season will be focused solely on adding new content.
If a season requires more polishing, balancing, and fine-tuning instead of “more content”, that will be the priority.
Season One will be intentionally cleaner, to avoid content bloat and classic early-stage issues, starting from a stable base we can build on properly.
Season One – Overview
- Level cap: 105
- Dungeons: ~8–9 at launch
PvM
- Item-based PvM progression, with some items reaching up to 2 tiers
- Elemental sets built primarily around items
- Systems clearly supporting PvM, farming, resistances, and efficiency
PvP
- More accessible progression, designed to get you into action faster
- Items with 2–3 tiers, without becoming a frustrating RNG marathon
Modern systems & objectives
- Real quality-of-life features without breaking the classic feel
- Clear progression targets, constant activities, and engaging content
Goal: a solid, balanced, and fluid foundation from day one, built to evolve season by season without compromises.
PvP – classic feeling, built for the future
PvP remains classic in feel, but with:
- Continuous balance focus starting from Season One
- Long-term, step-by-step improvements without losing Metin2’s identity
- More skill expression, more clarity, less frustrating RNG
Stability & Performance (the real difference)
Eteria is not just “tweaked”. The technical foundation has been genuinely modernized:
- x86_64 architecture
- Full migration to Linux + io_uring
- New packet system (client & server)
- Rewritten event system
- New login system (faster, more stable)
- Modern SQL API + MariaDB
- Headless Client for simulating thousands of in-game actions
- Tech stack: C++23, Clang, CMake
Result: a smoother, more stable, and more predictable server — even in crowded scenarios and intense gameplay moments.
Communication & Transparency
- Clear and consistent communication, without empty promises
- Updates and announcements only when there is something concrete to show or confirm
- Well-structured changelogs, so you know exactly what changed and why
- Feedback carefully reviewed, filtered, and integrated where it makes sense
- Periodic Dev Talks explaining project direction and key decisions in a clear, community-friendly way
Team
Eteria is developed by a dedicated team, with clear roles and responsibilities:
- Gameplay & game design
- Software engineering
- QA & testing
- Web & infrastructure
- Community & communication
- This is not a one-man project and not something rushed. Multiple people are actively involved, and important decisions are discussed and filtered internally to maintain the right direction.
More details will be revealed as we approach launch, including previews and system deep-dives.
